We use the services of couriers for parcel deliveries and a pallet network for palletised orders. It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure that their supplied address details are correct at time of purchase, as we cannot be held responsible for incorrect or non-delivery due to customer error.
All items under 2kgs will be delivered by Royal Mail 2nd Class service.
All items from 3kg -30kg (per parcel) will be delivered by a Third Party Courier, who offer a next day delivery service. All orders for items over 3kg should be delivered the next day from date of order. Please note, although 99% of our orders are delivered next day, we cannot guarantee a next day service as we have to rely on the Couriers to carry out the service. Whilst delivery failures can happen (misrouted parcels, traffic delays etc), we would expect that all orders are delivered without any problems.
All parcel orders (normally items under 30kgs) will be despatched on the same day your order is placed if it is before 1pm. (Orders placed on a Friday will be delivered on a Monday with the exception of Bank Holidays where they will be delivered the next working day). For orders placed after 1pm, it is still possible that the courier will collect the same day, however we can offer no guarantee and would therefore despatch the order the following day. For orders placed over a weekend (or after 1pm on a Friday) these will be despatched on the Monday Our next day PARCEL delivery service covers the UK Mainland with the exception of the Scottish Highlands which is normally serviced within 48 hours.
Our free carriage service does not include the following – Channel Islands, Isle of Man, Scottish Islands & Northern Ireland. Please contact us before ordering so we can provide you with a small delivery surcharge.
For all orders that fall outside the capabilities of a courier service (typically orders above 100kgs), we will use the services of a pallet network to deliver your order. For all orders placed before 1pm, we strive to ensure all pallet orders are despatched on the same day. However due to vehicle payload/weight regulations we cannot always guarantee that all orders will be shipped the same day. It is important that contact telephone numbers are provided with all orders so that the carrier can contact you to make the necessary delivery arrangements.
Palletised deliveries will be made by an 18 tonne kerbside tail-lift lorry and the pallet will be placed as near as possible to where you need it. If you have restricted access to your property please let us know and we will seek to make alternative arrangements and use a smaller vehicle. The pallet will be lowered to the floor from the vehicle and the driver will use a pallet truck to manoeuvre the pallet.
The ground and road need to be flat, level and solid to use this delivery system. Broken concrete, gravel, soft surfaces or sloping ground is unsuitable and pallets may only be left on the roadside at the driver’s discretion if he deems it safe to do so. For palletised deliveries, we ask that someone is able to sign for the delivery. If you are going to be out on the day of delivery please advise a safe place to leave the pallet (driveway, car port, etc).The Salt Depot is not responsible for goods left after delivery is made. All deliveries are made weekdays between 8am & 6pm (excluding Bank Holidays). Orders placed on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays will be processed on the morning of the next working day.
Where a delivery cannot be made on the arranged day due to access or unforeseen circumstances we will attempt a redelivery at your request for a charge of £35.00 per pallet on the following day or when arranged. If you have any queries concerning this or any other issue please contact us immediately before placing your order. Our free next day delivery service covers the UK Mainland. Deliveries to Scottish Highlands may take 48-72 hours.
Our free delivery service does not include the following areas, Channel Islands, Isle of Man, Scottish Islands & Northern Ireland and all other off shore islands. If you wish to place an order for these areas, please contact us for additional delivery charges. We have the right to cancel and refund any orders that do not meet our shipping policies.

You may cancel your order prior to shipment or within 7 working days of delivery. (Working days exclude weekends and public holidays). Notification of cancellation must be in written form (by letter or email), notification by telephone is not sufficient. (This is in accordance with the Distance Selling Regulations 2000). Notification of cancellation may be sent via email to firstname.lastname@example.org, or by post to, Himalayan Salt Store, 12 Sutherland Way, Vicars Cross, Chester CH3 5HN The item(s) should be unopened and in new condition, please see information relating to charges below.
Returns – Damaged Items
Please inspect your goods upon receipt of delivery. All parcel orders are packed with secure packing materials. In the unlikely event of the items arriving damaged or faulty please sign for them as damaged and contact us immediately. Shortages or damages must be notified to us within 2 days of receipt of your order. All pallet deliveries are safely despatched and wrapped with secure packing materials. Due to the nature of the pallets being handled by fork lift trucks, there is a small risk of damage to polythene bags. Due to the high transport costs of refusing or returning damaged goods, we would politely request that, if you find that one or two of the bags has some external damage, that you accept the order and sign the delivery paperwork noting the number of bags damaged. We will refund you for any damaged bags or arrange to send replacements within 24 hours of you notifying us. We will supply replacements free of charge, or if we are unable to replace the items, a full refund to the value of the damaged item(s). We may request pictures of the damaged items for proof of damage so that we can use them in terms of a claim for damages against the courier company.
Returns – Cancelled Orders
For orders delivered by a parcel carrier, we would recharge you the redelivery cost for returning the items to us. The current charge would be £9.99 for a parcel up to 30kgs. For palletised orders that are cancelled whilst on route or returned due to ground/access conditions being unsuitable for pallet deliveries, this will incur a return delivery charge of £40.00 per pallet If you choose to cancel your order, the goods must be returned to The Salt Depot. Returned goods must be suitably packed to help ensure their safe return – we request that the original packing materials are used for this purpose. Where goods are returned for reasons other than loss, damage, or error on our part, you are liable for the return shipping costs. We ask that the goods are returned within 14 days. If you fail to return the goods, we reserve the right to charge for the cost of collecting the goods, and you are legally obliged to make them freely available for collection. We do not charge any restocking fees. When an order is cancelled according to the conditions described above the full purchase and shipping costs will be refunded to you.
